Pangi Seed Rope Maraca

The seed cases of the Pangium edule tree are joined together with natural twine and attached to a delicately plaited rope handle. This instrument, similar to those used across Africa is held in the hand or attached to the ankles and used in dance ceremonies. It creates a deep dry rattle sound.
